Raising an army and researching new weapons of war is an expensive endeavor. Units need repairs, and soldiers demand wages. Creating and maintaining a thriving economy is vital to ensuring your success on the battlefield.
The world of Terra-Xi has come to a stage where it is heavily depending on the value of the credit. To get credits, though, you need another resource: the Katai. Mined from the rich earth of Terra-Xi, this precious oil is the root of your economy. Without it, you would not have an economy at all. To mine the Katai, you will need Katai Extractors. The Katai Extractors will gather Katai and then export it in exchange for credits.
Once you have credits in your reserves, you can start building units, research new technologies, construct facilities, or buy upgrades. This is extremely important, and should be done as early as possible in the game. Without credits there is hardly anything you can do. Such is life in these times on Terra-Xi.

Players need to collect a steady stream of credits to ensure their success. Whenever money is tight, expand with more Katai Extractors.
You will never need to worry about not having any Katai to mine. This substance is very dense, and it grows very quickly. There are some that says that one day the Katai will be emptied from Terra-Xi, but that day is still to come.
